Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
1. Who we are
Riff Boston ("we", "us") operates riffboston.com, a Greater Boston live music discovery service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. For questions, contact bealstreetmedia@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and display name when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Activity: shows you mark as interested or going, artists and venues you follow, submissions and contributions you send us, and merchandise orders you place.
- Usage data: pages viewed and basic device and browser information, measured with Google Analytics 4 in anonymized form. We never attach your email address or account identifiers to analytics events.
- Inquiry emails: photography and other inquiries you send through our forms, which we use only to respond.
3. Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads on the site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
4. How we use information
- to operate the site — show listings, saves, follows, chat and account features;
- to send newsletters you subscribed to, with an unsubscribe link in every issue;
- to process merchandise orders through our payment and fulfillment providers;
- to measure aggregate site traffic and improve the service;
- to detect abuse, prevent duplicate or fraudulent listings and keep the site secure.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with providers that help us run the service: our hosting and database provider, Google (analytics and advertising), our payment processor, our merchandise fulfillment provider, and our email delivery service — each only for the purpose listed above.
6. Data retention and your choices
You can delete saved shows and unfollow artists or venues at any time in your account. You can unsubscribe from newsletters with the link in any issue. To delete your account or ask what data we hold about you, email bealstreetmedia@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.
7. Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Connecticut, Colorado, Virginia, the EU/UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of targeted advertising or "sale"/"sharing" of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money; ad cookies described above may count as "sharing" under some laws — you can opt out using the links in section 3 or your browser's Global Privacy Control signal. Email bealstreetmedia@gmail.com to make a request; we may need to verify your identity. EU/UK visitors: we process data based on consent (cookies, newsletters), contract (accounts, orders) and legitimate interests (security, service improvement).
9. Security and data location
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure. Data is stored in the United States. We never store full payment card numbers — card payments are handled by our payment processor.
10. Email
Newsletters comply with the CAN-SPAM Act: each issue identifies Riff Boston and includes a working unsubscribe link, honored promptly.
11. Affiliate links and third-party sites
Some ticket links are affiliate or referral links; we may earn a commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you. Listings link to third-party ticket sellers and venues whose own terms and privacy policies apply. Resale marketplaces may charge above face value.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new effective date. See also our copyright notice.
